A series of impact recovery experiments have been conducted on dry, water-saturated (wet), and water-pressurized Berea sandstone samples using a single stage light gas gun. The samples are subjected to various stress levels using a flyer plate impact. The recovered samples provide a large database of Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) images depicting the damage. Laser particle size analyses are also being conducted on portions of the recovered samples to characterize changes in grain size distribution. We present the characteristics of the recovered samples using the SEM for selected examples from each of the experimental categories. We also present some preliminary statistical analysis of the SEM images of the samples to assess variations in damage.
