A Training Device to Improve Flight Safety of Gyroplanes - (PPT)

Simulation model which comprises all relevant characteristics of a gyroplane was developed and validated by flight test data. Simulation model matches flight test data adequately for several maneuvers. Steady state flights and dynamic maneuvers in the roll, pitch and yaw axes. Initial tests show that the simulator is an efficient training tool: Takeoff procedure good training task; Reduction of overcontrol during flight training; Reduction of 10 training hours during real flight training may be achievable. For further studies an advanced training simulator is under development.
