Government cooperation: To improve country roads

摘要

This paper will show how local government in Western Australia is meeting some of the challenges of:meeting the increasing demands for new roads without compromising the condition of its current road network; looking beyond local government boundaries in order to maximise community benefits; identifying strategic roads to support the growing freight task and travel demand; and ensuring all weather access is provided to schools, medical services and remote local communities. These challenges are principally addressed through the structure and processes that are the foundations of our current State Road Funds to Local Government Agreement 1995.
