A desire for use high-fidelity models in Salem training simulator for the Reactor Coolant System (RCS) thermal-hydraulic and core model necessitated the implementation of RELAP5-RT. This enhancement has added many benefits in the area of neutronics due to the fact that RELAP5 contains a Reactor Kinetics Model which is a multi-dimensional neutron Kinetics model based on the NESTLE code. This paper describes the process of implementation of RELAP5, the nodalization approach for modeling the RCS and simulator, and acceptance testing and verification results that made the upgrade the training load at Salem.
