Public Service Enterprise Group's Hope Creek and Salem-1 and -2 nuclear power units in New Jersey will be retired in 2019 and 2020, respectively, unless the state's Board of Public Utilities awards the units zero emission credits to maintain their economic viability, the company said. "Deactivation notices" to that effect have been filed with PJM Interconnection to notify the regional grid operator that those units might not participate in the capacity auction for 2022-2023, scheduled to take place in August, PSEG said in a filing Tuesday with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Exelon Generation submitted a similar filing Tuesday to SEC for the share of the Salem units that it owns.
