Present trends, such as globalisation, increasing complexity of customer-supplier-networks and market dynamics have an impact on the companies organisation and their competitivenss. From an organisational point of view these trends result in complex internal processes and therefore high co-ordination efforts and reduced process efficiency. To face this situation, theory as well as industrial practice suggest to adapt the organisation towards decentralised decision structures, increased flexibility and the implementation of market pressure. One present example following this concept in the automotive industry is the formation of VISTEON out of FORD Motor Company. Besides the OEMs also many suppliers have applied the principles of decentralisation to their organisation.
