The endohedral metallofullerenes M@C_(nn) are unique materials in which a positively charged core metal is off-center in a negatively charged strong carbon cage (Fig.l),with promising applications such as superconductors,organic ferromagnets and laser media.[l] A strong metal-cage interaction and intrafullerene charge transfer from the metal atom to the carbon cage seems to be at the origin of unusual electronic and magnetic properties.
