The currently used analytical tools to investigate ion-beam irradiated systems can be profitably complemented by Mossbauer spectroscopy for its unique ability in giving detailed structural information on the surroundings of resonant atoms. Sometimes the more relevant features are revealed by means of this technique. The few examples reported here are persuasive cases of application.
