This paper presents a part of a study led by IMNSSA on the risk induced by steam and is limited to an experimental approach aiming at comparing the protection rates of appropriate clothes against skin burn under light overpressure steam environment. Because of missing biological data on this scope, the Groupe des Hauts Flux (GHF) has adopted well known criteria giving skin burn threshold occurring through thermal flux application. These ones are probably not exactly usable for steam, but permit an approach without huge nonsense. A steam generator and applicator is described with the associated measurement devices. Some results are discussed.
