Study on Influence of Auditory Information of AHS on Drivers' Behavior - Younger and Elderly Drivers' Collision Avoidance Behavior When Using Auditory Information

摘要

This study investigates driver behavior when AHS (Advanced Cruise-Assist Highway Systems) provides auditory information to avoid a dangerous incident occurred in a blind curve section of urban expressway. In the experiment with a driving simulator, younger and elderly drivers' behaviors were measured when avoiding a collision in the blind curve section and the effect of auditory information of AHS is evaluated from the viewpoint of driving maneuver, visual behavior and subjective rating. It is reported how the auditory information of AHS influences younger and elderly drivers' behaviors, in comparison with the visual information.
