Study on displaying methods of assist information for avoiding collisions with oncoming vehicle and crossing pedestrian when right at intersections

摘要

This paper investigates displaying methods of information for avoiding collisions with oncoming vehicle and crossing pedestrian when turning right at intersections based on drivers' human factors. In the experiment, a driving simulator equipped with ITS, which have information display for avoiding collisions with oncoming vehicle and crossing pedestrian, was utilized. The subjects were required to turn right at the intersections appeared in the driving scenario and their human factors were evaluated in terms of eye movement and subjective rating. The results showed that it was effective for drivers to provide the assist information when turning right at intersections and their cognitive processes and strategies depended on the kinds of displaying method.
