摘要

The objective of this research was to evaluate the impact of cultivation and interseeded Secale cereale (winter rye), Vicia villosa (hairy vetch) and S. cereale-V. villosa mixtures on transplanted fall kale and broccoli yield, weed suppression, and cover crop establishment. Two side-by-side experiments, one for each crop, were conducted as randomized complete block designs. Crops were cultivated either once 10 days after transplanting (DAT) or twice, 10 and 20 DAT, with or without cover crops at thefinal cultivation. Weedy and weed free (handweeded) controls were included. Results suggest that combining two cultivations with interseeded S. cereale (in broccoli) and .V. cereale or V. villosa (in kale) 20 DAT is a reasonable strategy for establishingcover crops without sacrificing crop yield or weed control.
