Strobilurins for the control of diseases of vegetable and ornamental crops in Italy

In experiments carried out in Northern Italy, azoxystrobin effectively controlled Fulvia fulva, Botrytis cinerea and Phytophthora infestans on tomato, downy mildew and grey mould on lettuce, and powdery mildew of zucchini and rose. Azoxystrobin and trifloxystrobin show multiple activity against Fusarium wilt, Rhizoctonia solani and Phytophthora nicotianae on carnation. Azoxystrobin also controls Fusarium wilts of cyclamen and Paris daisy. Use strategies for azoxystrobin and other strobilurins for vegetables and ornamentals are discussed.
