As for the solar car, performance is greatly decided by a battery to carry. As is often the case with solar car race, Ni-MH battery is used, because of its high energy density, high output current density and long cyclic life. The negative electrode of a Ni-MH battery is composed of various particle size hydrogen storage alloy and electric conducting materials. The choice of a conducting material and particle size are of great importance to realize high rates of charge and discharge. We studied about the paste-type negative electrode for the Ni-MH battery and has made to participate in the solar car race. The battery regulation of the solar car race was changed from the total battery capacity to the total battery weight. Therefore we have necessary that the high energy density for the good record of solar car race.
