Garlic disease observation in Ontario

The garlic industry in Ontario has been gradually increasing for the past 15 years. In 1998, there were 3500 acres of garlic grown in the province and the acreage is expected to increase again in 1999. About 25 percent of the crop is sold for seed and most of the remaining production is sold for consumption, either as loose garlic or in garlic braids. A processing plant has just been established in south-western Ontario, which should increase the demand for local garlic even more.
