A structured approach to safety arguments provides for efficient use of specialists' time, provides a framework for safety case authors to develop a case and greatly assists assessors to assimilate the key features of a safety case The development of such an approach, however, requires considerable investment. This paper describes such a structured approach as it has evolved Magnox Reactor Steel Pressure Vessel Safety Cases.
