A study on the processing and microstructures of an Al-Li/SiCp composite is presented in this paper. The AA8090 Al-Li alloy powders with two sizes of <38μm and 38~100μm were chosen respectively to mix with 20% volume SiCp by centrifugal ballmilling at 500rpm. The composite billet were fabricated by hot pressing at 300°C under 440MPa and then extruded isothermally at 500°Cwith a reduction ratio of 10:1 or 20:1 Microstructures of the composite are examined. Optimum matching relationshipbetween particle sizes of matrix and reinforcement and their influences on microstructures of the composite are discussed.
