Based onthe experiments carried out on a single cylinder spark ignition engine fueled with gasoline and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), this paper optimizes LPG'S mixer and lays specially on analyzing LPG'S combustion characteristics under different compressive ratios and different mixture air-fuel ratios. The experimental results show that, compared with gasoline mixture, LPG mixture has shorter ignition delay periods, sorter main combustion periods and lower cycle-to-cycle variations, espccially in lean mixture operation. This paper also shows the experimental results of output and fuel-consumption of these two kinds of fuel.
