摘要

Vehicel weight reduction is the most direct approach to improve fuel efficiency. Weight reduction can be acheived by substitution of lightweight high performance materials such as aluminum alloys for steels. This paper reviewed some technical challenges in manufacturing aluminum vehicles: including formability and assembly of aluminum, and optimal for increasing structural reliability and reducing manufacturing cost and lead time. The current status and approaches to the solution of these issues are discussed.
