This paper related to automotive emission catalyst and specifically relates to a thermally stable high surface-area washcoat useful for supporting oxidation and/or reduction catalyst at elevated temperature. It is known that catalyst washcoat materials for automotive emission use should possess high surface area, refractoriness, and thermal stability. High surface-area in the washcoat increases catalyst dispersion which retards activity loss resulting form catalyst agglomeration and sintering, and increase the accessible catalyst surface area.
