When faced with the possibility of measurement and process improvements, the availability of resources - including money - dictates the viability for implementing the improvement opportunity. If one can leverage from work already done by others it is often much easier to justify such activity. The amount of investment required can be significantly smaller, as it is then only a question of modifying something that is already known and working. This paper will describe the process of establishing a Power Sensor calibration system based on a well known principle of measuring calibration factor via a power splitter. The enhancements to the basic system brought improvements with respect to lower uncertainty and better repeatability. The system covers a wide range of power sensors and thermistor mounts, is automated and production oriented. Operating the system is very operator friendly, menu driven and flexible.
