In a 'standards laboratory', precision instrumentation systems are very important for getting accurate, reliable and standard results. These days, automatic measurement techniques are in practice. Also, contactless measurements are preferred so that there should not be any errors due to manual or human controls required in the operation and/or measurements. Sensors and associated instrumentation systems for such precision measurements are discussed in this paper. Smart systems are developed for various standards viz. pressure, weight, force, ultrasonic power and acoustic vibrational amplitude. Design and fabrication aspects are given in detail.
