WORKSHOP: CALIBRATION START-TO-FINISH IN AN ISO 9000 ENVIRONMENT

Calibration of the test and measuring equipment used in designing and producing quality products plays an important role in meeting the requirements of a quality system, such as ISO 9000; and calibration solutions to meeting those requirements are changing. The perspectives from four angles will be presented: 1) The Customer who has questions such as, What's the economic impact (both increased sales and increased costs)? Is registration just a business tax? What's the role of calibration in meeting the need? 2) The Recognized ISO 9000 Registrar who has statistically valid data on the cost of registration and resultant cost savings seen by a wide variety of organizations, 3) The ISO 9000 Registrar who knows that calibration can be a significant hurdle in obtaining registration, and can answer questions such as, What is involved in getting registration? Why is calibration an issue? What is the role of documentation? Why is workload coverage an issue? 4) The Vendor who can provide examples of cost effective tools which can be used to solve the problems and challenges stated earlier.
