Portable wireless applications demand very high frequency operation in very cost sensitive products. However, since only a small part of a wireless system operates at RF frequencies, the packaging must also meet the needs of crosstalk isolationand electromagnetic interference to enable RF, base-band, analog and digital circuitry to share a common housing. A key function in RF circuits is frequency selective filtering. This imposes particular constraints, since relatively large numbers ofpassive components need to be intimately connected to a relatively small number of ICs with minimal parasitic impedance.
