The R* composite linguistic model for the Fuzzy-State-Fuzzy-Output Finite State Machine (FSFO FSM) is discussed. The FSFO FSM is implemented by a Boolean FSM based on two-valued logic. A systematic method is suggested to design the state transients of the FSFO FSM by means of a specified sequence of changes at the fuzzy inputs and outputs. Reprogrammable architectures have been gaining ground to meet the demands of a broad variety of applications. Two alternatives are considered; one is based on ASIC technology and programmable and erasable logic devices, the other is based on FPGAs with static RAM.
