Women in Academe: An Examination of the Education and Hiring of Chemists

摘要

An overview of the education and hiring of chemists is presented with an emphasis on the gender composition at each stage of education. The different career patterns of men and women are explored and possible reasons for the under-representation of women on the chemistry faculties at PhD-granting institutions are addressed.
