Large merchant ships oftne experimence severe vibrations ove rhteir hull strucutres,where apporpriate countermeasrues is needed to minimize the troubled vibration.The conventional emthod of strucutral reinformcemdent to stiffen the strcuutre and change the natural frequency may be a permanent solution but less effective in case of non-resonant vibrairton due to excessive excitation as well as due to the limited feasibility in design modificaiton.Other passive ways of reducing hull vibration are viberation absorber and mas sdamper system which are based on the vibraiton isolation theory but they have had only partial and limtied uses in varying environemtn like ships.
