90 degree optical hybrid for coherent receivers

摘要

We present a design of a 90 degree optical hybrid for an optical coherent receiver. In order to minimize power losses and noise our bulk optical solution is a six-port device. The balancing of the channels is provided by half wave plates. The 90 degree phase shift is introduced between orthogonally polarized beam components by a quarter wave plate.
