PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 90-degree optical hybrid interferometer having an optical circuit configuration, capable of miniaturizing a device, while attaining the output port arrangement of OIF standard.;SOLUTION: The 90-degree optical hybrid interferometer has a structure, including an optical path length difference to a pair of a signal optical waveguide arm and a local oscillation optical waveguide arm at either an I phase side or a Q phase side at TE optical signal side and TM optical signal side, respectively, thus giving an inter-phase phase difference between te signals of the I phase side and the signals of the Q phase side. By setting an output phase difference which is the sum of the phase difference of the output interference characteristics that the coupler of the I phase side and the coupler of the Q phase side possess, respectively, and the inter-phase phase difference to π/2, output signals of eight output ports are arranged in the order: Ip, In, Qp, and Qn on the TE optical signal side and Ip, In, Qp and Qn, on the TM optical signal side starting from above.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
