Perspective from the broadcaster (film for TV)

Discusses the advantages and disadvantages of using film for TV production. A film camera can be more tolerant of rough handling and extreme climatic conditions than a video one. It also has a colour viewfinder that could be used all day without running down the batteries. Film is however more vulnerable than videotape. It must be handled with care to avoid dirt and scratching. Telecines are essential, and very expensive, requiring highly skilled individuals to operate and maintain them.
