In this paper, a method of reconstructing multi-directional irregularwaves is proposed based on linear wave superposition. Thereproduction of different waves including theoretically calculated andarbitrary multi-directional irregular waves are presented. Theconsistence between reconstructed wave elevation histories and theoriginal ones proves that the wave reconstruction method proposed inthis paper can effectively reproduce multi-directional waves. Itsapplication range is further evaluated based on the quantitative erroranalysis along the spatial dimension represented by the ratio of R_i / L_s(in which, R_i denotes the radius of the pentagon wave gage array and L_sis the significant wave length). The proposed method can provide areference for the reconstruction of multidirectional waves in numericaland physical wave basin.
