We report on comparative properties in deep UV region of two types of tunable deep UV lasers for applications inresonance Raman lidar. The first type of the tunable deep UV laser is based on frequency doubling of the output of anoptical parametric oscillator (OPO) pumped by the third harmonics of a Q-Switched Nd-YAG laser. The second one isbased on the generation of the third and fourth harmonics of a Ti:sapphire (Ti:S) laser, which is pumped by the secondharmonics of a Q-Switched Nd-YAG laser. Also, we demonstrated the resonance Raman spectroscopic measurements ofSO2 gas using these tunable deep UV lasers.
