The implementation of the “European Space of Higher Education” (ESHE), has involved a majorchange in the procedures of evaluation of University teaching. Among other things, it has introducedthe concepts of "success" or "failure" associated with the number of students who obtained positiveresults, regardless of the levels of skills and knowledge of students at the time of his admission to thestudies, involving teachers, and making it largely responsible for that "success" or "failure".This article includes the results obtained in the study for four years, since the implementation of theBologna plan, preliminary evaluation of prior knowledge and capabilities exercises of studentsadmitted to the technical subjects (graphic expression and graphic engineering) in the school ofindustrial engineering of UNED, showing a direct relationship between this situation and the finalresults.It is shown that largely the "quality" of a University, measured in this way, not wholly dependent ontheir infrastructure and educational staff, but a fundamental value is the level of skills and knowledgethat students bring when they begin the studies.
