(1540) DESIGN DETOUR - CREATIVITY VS. TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS IN DESIGN PROCESS

This paper is focused on the discussion of opportunities and challenges of deliberate, subsequentapproach to the previously considered design problem. The observation is based on ArchitecturalDetail design studio conduce for Interior Architecture students. During the one semester coursestudents were encouraged to explore and improve selected tasks and ideas in their own research andinvestigation field referring to their formerly realized design undertakings. Student proposals provide aroute from unlimited outbreak of their creativity, through the preliminary design project review, torational technical considerations and final conclusions. This deliberately made route is a chance toexplore completely new fields of interest, for example: new materials and technologies as well asdevelopment of student specific cognitive tools. Exploring new design areas and incorporating subproblemstrigger students' engagement and conscious creation of their own designer's personality.The introduced design process is monitored by intermediate reports, surveys and closing comparativeanalyses.
