(2326) REFERENCE BUSINESS MODEL FOR UNIVERSITY-INDUSTRY COLLABORATION BASED ON EXPERIENCES FROM THE LAST DECADE

Over the last several years, university-industry collaboration (UIC) has become a topic of widespread interest, owing to the substantial innovation and economic growth it had produced. This is evidenced by a significant increase in the number of studies exploring this topic from different perspectives, presenting meaningful results and experiences that can be applied in modelling successful future university-industry collaboration. This paper presents a systematic literature review of results of relevant academic research on the topic, with the aim to identify and interpret experiences of university-industry collaboration in more than twenty European, Asian and North American countries. Special attention was devoted to analysis of existing experiences in different aspects of collaboration, such as organizational types, support to collaboration, motivation for collaboration, critical success factors, facilitating and inhibiting factors of collaboration, most common activities, interests, outcomes and barriers of collaboration, etc. The reference business model proposed in this paper, intended to serve as a general framework for successful development of collaboration between universities and industry, is based on an analysis of results of distinct examples of collaboration. The proposed business model could provide specific guidelines for further development of university industry collaboration.
