摘要

This study examines communications options (data, video and voice) for operations in the Canadian Arctic accounting for adverse conditions, such as atmospheric disturbances (both natural and man-made) or adversarial attacks on satellites and terrestrial infrastructure. Potential users include Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), off-grid communities and Public Safety, including their respective systems requiring machine-to-machine low latency data sharing. The technologies considered include satellites, microwave relays, fiber optic links, radios like cellular phones operating in the 700 Mhz band, transceivers in the high frequency bands (20-30 Mhz), and Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) gateways.
