The article deals with the problems of digitalization and business processes modeling in small and medium-sized enterprises according to the ISO 9000 standards, and considers existing approaches to describing business processes and further improving the cost management system in order to reduce spendings. The logic of model building, digitalization, the structure of the business process, approaches to the description of processes are discussed, methods for optimizing the business process depending on the results of their visual evaluation are proposed. The article identifies and justifies the need to use the seven main stages of describing a set of separate business processes in a small and medium-sized enterprise. The features of notations and the instrumental environment used for modeling are analyzed, the capabilities of ARIS eEPCs, IDEF0, IDEF3 notations are compared. In the proposed study, the author shows various interpretations of the "business process" concept in the activities of small and medium-sized enterprises, which are one of the foundations of the economy of the modern Russian Federation. Based on the study, the author states the need for business processes digitalization, proposes a way to manage costs in small and medium businesses, designed to optimize the volume and structure of consumed resources depending on the current goals of the organization.
