POCT is very useful in bio-defense settings including: 1. Bio-threat labs, disaster settings, remote settings; 2. The bio-threat may be natural or man made; 3. Testing may include bio-surveillance, patient diagnosis, patient management; 4. Evolving technologies will expand the role of POCT in these settings; 5. Currently we are globally ill prepared.
