The global solidarity against irreversible anthropological climate change prompts the urgency to transition the global energy system to use clean and sustainable energy system. Unfortunately, most of the remote islands around the world still use fossil fuels for power generation, which are unreliable and produces high CO_2 emissions. These problems can be potentially addressed by using renewable energy coupled with energy storage. There are various hybrid energy system technologies and configurations that can be deployed depending on energy resource availability, geographical conditions, and temporal conditions. For instance, Blechinger et al. suggest solar PV-battery and wind-hydrogen system combination yields lower levelized cost of energy (LCOE) [1].
