Coatings have experienced major improvements during the last few decades. Manufacturers are continuously challenged to deliver novel and optimized products that fulfill the customer's needs. New and advanced functionalities have been developed through the years, introducing more and more diverse and efficient components, resins and additives. Expectations increase, new more demanding functionalities are already under study smart coatings and functional surfaces apply to virtually every industry. Additionally, the paint and coatings industry faces significant challenges from increasingly thorough regulations. More efficient integral processes are required in order to speed up development, whilst minimizing the environmental impact.
