摘要

In this paper, the change of energy saving performance of a stern ductwhich is one of energy saving devices is investigated. The surfacepressure of a stern duct attached to the stern was measured byexperiment with a towing tank in order to obtain the fundamentalinformation for evaluation of the energy saving ability of the duct. Themeasurements were carried out under the conditions of propeller loadvariation both in calm water and in waves. With the results of theexperiments, the influence of the propeller load to the surface pressureof the duct was understood quantitatively and also revealed the effectsof orbital motion due to waves and longitudinal motion of the ship inwaves.
