In this paper, reliability analysis methods are obtained based on Fellenius’ method, Bishop’s method and multi sliding surface method which is new limit equilibrium method developed in recent years. Then, the three kind of method are applied for several wharf slopes. The safety factor or reliability index obtained using Fellenius’ method is smaller than that using other method. The safety factor or reliability index obtained using multi sliding surface method is close to that using Bishop’s method. For different projects, the change tendency of reliability index is similar to that of safety factor. But the change range of reliability index is different from that of safety factor. The reliability index is more sensitive than safety factor.
