In this paper, reliability analysis methods are obtained based onFellenius’ method, Bishop’s method and multi sliding surface methodwhich is new limit equilibrium method developed in recent years. Then,the three kind of method are applied for several wharf slopes. Thesafety factor or reliability index obtained using Fellenius’ method issmaller than that using other method. The safety factor or reliabilityindex obtained using multi sliding surface method is close to that usingBishop’s method. For different projects, the change tendency ofreliability index is similar to that of safety factor. But the change rangeof reliability index is different from that of safety factor. The reliabilityindex is more sensitive than safety factor.
