Deployment Strategies for Safety Pilot Connected Vehicle Infrastructure

As the infrastructure team leader for the USDOT's Safety Pilot Connected Vehicle Model Deployment program ("Safety Pilot"), Parsons Brinckerhoff was charged with planning for, designing and deploying the roadside infrastructure needed for the program. Through the initial Concept of Operations and Functional Requirement steps, a series of strategies were determined to help support the deployment of the infrastructure. This paper walks through the key elements and decision points in deploying connected vehicle systems, and strategies to meet each deployment objective.
