摘要

This paper presents an experimental study to locate and diagnose electrical faults for a low-voltage system. Currents and voltages measured at the incoming and ending nodes of the line are used to predict and calculate the fault location. A single-phase low-voltage AC system is studied. The fault location and diagnosis presented in this paper includes the impedance-based, Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), rolling Root Mean Square (RMS), and wavelet fingerprint approaches. Transient as well as permanent (metallic) faults are studied by multi-resolution wavelet decomposition of sensor signals such as current and voltages. Experimental results are presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed study.
