Winston's Pursuit of Existential Meaning in 1984

1984 is a novel about self-existence. Sartre emphasizes self, freedom and responsibilities, and the absurd world in which human beings are entangled in. Therefore, based on the existential theory of Sartre, this paper analyzes the free choices of love, thoughts and actions of the protagonist Winston so as to explain the existence state without existing meaning, to clarify Winston's understanding and pursuit of the meaning of life.
