An Eulerian-Eulerian two phase CFD method is developed for simulation of an LBE free surface in an XT-ADS windowless target configuration. For this purpose, the MYRRHA double gap 16.5 deg feeder design is selected. The simulation results are compared to real size water, mercury, and LBE flow experiments which have been performed for the same design at UCL, IPUL, and FZK. The simulation shows a good agreement with the experimental results. Future developments of the method will include: swirl effects in combination with a free surface, the modelling of the flow detachments which are found in water and LBE experiments, the three dimensional 3-feeder design, and removal of the deposited heat in the LBE free surface flow.
