SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF ISLAND TOURISM: CASE OF CROATIA

摘要

This paper deals with development of island tourism and with other environmental protection issues on the Croatian islands. In order to achieve a sustainable development of tourism, the management of resources (landscape, socio-cultural heritage, accommodation facilities and human resources) must satisfy manifold criteria, and a long-term development strategy must be defined. This paper argues strongly in favor of an local and a well-balanced development strategy that would emphasize the preservation of local community as well as the preservation of its natural environment, wildlife and cultural heritage.
