Spectral Linewidth Measurement of a Ne-Like Ar Capillary Discharge Soft X-Ray Laser

We report on the measurement of spectral linewidth of a Ne-like Ar table-top capillary discharge laser. The linewidth was measured as a function of the gain medium length. Due to inhomogeneous character of the linewidth, saturation rebroadening is expected. However no such behavior was observed while the amplifier length was extended beyond saturation. This situation is compared with a numerical model, identifying that even a small amount of collisional broadening effectively homogenizes the line profile.
