Hello my name is Don Desjardins and I am an Operations/Maintenance Coordinator for Shell Albian Sands in Fort McMurray Alberta. I am honored to be here today to talk about the subject of “Scope Creep and its Effects” on planned events. This is a subject that is very passionate to me because this is one of the most important successes to any event by controlling budget and schedule during an event. This can change every aspect. Certain people in the organization think just adding a few tasks here and there shouldn’t cause any issues or harm. Today I am going to show you a few examples and ripple effects that happen when tasks are accepted after the Initial Scope Freeze. I have worked various roles in my career from a Maintenance Teamlead/Coordinator to even an Execution Manager within the Turnaround Group. Even my present role as an Operations/Maintenance Coordinator I see the effects because I own the budget and schedule within my department during day to day operations.
